Adding a GUI to a Python program will be MUCH easier than porting it to
another language! But it has the risk that you might never want to use
another GUI language again.

XWisp has a very limited GUI (click on a .hex file and you get one
button - what more do you want?) and somewhere I have a version of the
zp-bootloader software integerated in XWisp. I must realy put up an good
ZPL page...
