I've already got a Tait style programmer (and it works well), I just wanted an MPLAB compatible system preferably connected via the serial port (I like using the parallel port for other stuff). Thanks for the reply though - I've found a circuit diagram (in russian) for a Picstart + so I might be tempted to build a clone.
