>Let's see. Lipstick sized, eh? 10mm*40mm, perhaps? Volume about >3000mm^3 (pi*r^2*h), to inflate 110E6 mm^3 of balloon (4/3*pi*r^3)? So >you'd need a pressure of about 500,000psi ?! (sorry, I've just been SO >dissappointed in 10x40mm lipstick ? haha. The ones I had in mind are more like small mace can sized (or asthma inhaler). I agree that 100l is a lot but I was just speculating. Someone mentioned that a 'rescue sausage' device exists (Chris Loiacono ?) that already does this. I have seen (who hasn't) mylar balloons of the small kind sold to children floating up and glittering in the sun a *long* way out. Minimum 300 meters over water, probably more, and I wear glasses. 300 meters is pretty far away swimming wise imho. Especially against the wind or current. The small mylar balloons are about 30 cm diameter almost pancake shaped and probably about 3-4 liters of volume. This is in range for a package of the size I had in mind.
