To avoid the google archive, see this: 1. AVOIDING THE ARCHIVE. Many avoid the Usenet (Newsgroups) like the plague because it's known to be a rich source of addresses for spammers. Deja News ( http://www.dejanews.com ) maintains an archive of Usenet posts and you can avoid having your posts archived by entering the following (without the quotes) as the first line of the text: "x-no-archive:yes" . > I use a seperate mail account for the piclist, and only recently have > been getting 1-2 spam per week on it. The newsgroup account has been on > Google for quite some time, but IIRC they employ some decent methods to > protect from email mining. This would not work either, because the email address listed in the content is not masked. Just too many people reply without trimming the poster address from their posts. Spam is one concern, other concerns are privacy and safety. Imagine how easy a stranger, or your new unknowm neighbour can find about you just from doing a simple search on the google.
