Thanks. I've just found the info in "Readme for PICSTART Plus.txt"

Under Configure/Select Device the 18F452 is shown as Beta support
for PSP. I had the feeling that the 18F452 was or had been a bit buggy
and so said "properly and reliably programme". As a new user (soon)
of them I was just trying to get it straight. I'll wait until I've got them
and
then confirm that what's installed is enough
