Looking for opinions for PIC assemblers under Linux. My searches have so= far=20 found me... - PICasm - GPutils - MPasm (dos version) under dosemu I'll leave out options like anything under wine, vmware, etc for now. The target machine is very basic (old aesthetically-challenged laptop w/1= 28mb,=20 but *no* HD, so single-floppy linux installation) and isolated (no networ= k),=20 so it's difficult to setup each of these assemblers for testing (though I= 'm=20 still doing it slowly). In the meanwhile, I'd like to know if anyone using these has any opinions= =2E I=20 have to date been using mpasm under dosemu, but with the floppy-based=20 install, dosemu is a bit large and will require a bunch of floppies to=20 install. My target chips are the 12F629, 16F628, 16F87x, and soon I'll experiment = with=20 some 18Fxxxx's hopefully. At this point, I have the linux setup working with vi as my editor (yes, = I=20 like vi!), and pp v0.6 for the chip programmer. All I need is the assemb= ler=20 in the middle now. [ Yep, I could get a HD and HD-tray, but a small floppy-based install wou= ld be=20 soooo nice and low-cost! ] Cheers, -Neil. -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
