I just purchased a new 32" Sony TV that looks great, except for cable channels 2-6 (Fox, NBC, CBS, and some local). There are wavy lines on these channels that look like vertical curly brackets running down the TV. I had always thought that the lower channels had less losses that the higher channels and should look better. On my old 20" TV everything looks fine. I thought it was a problem with the tuner in the TV, but I ran the cable feed through my VCR to use its tuner and output it through the RCA video cables to the TV in video mode and I get the exact same thing on those channels only. Is there some kind of mains or other interference that will show up on these low channels, but not the others that is affecting the larger tv more than my smaller one? (and is there something I can do besides switching to digital cable)? I'm using run of the mill coax cable now -- does buying the more expensive OFHC etc etc cabling actually help anything?
