It may even be that it started as one and later changed to the other while still in GI's product line, I don't know. While I would never argue the fact that "Peripheral Interface Controller" is what most people think it stands for, and that it appears all over the Web, it may shock some people to learn that not all information published on the Web is 100% factual and accurate. Hard to believe, I know. Anyway, unless the GI data sheet is a clever forgery intended to sow confusion and debate, I'd tend to give it more weight than most web sites. But in the end, the big question remains: Who cares?
