It is supposed to work on the principle that the reed relay keeps itself (and the PIC) powered up after the first time the button has been pressed. When the PIC I/O turns from an input to an output (HIGH) it shorts out the relay coil...... The relay would need to be a low current reed relay type (high coil resistance). The resistor values would need some maths on them. It appears to be possible..... The resistor between the button press and the PIC pin would have to be sufficiently large to prevent the +ve switched voltage from going via the diode to stop the relay from working. A resistor could be added between the junction of the two diodes and the relay coil to assist this. The resistor between the relay coil and the ground would need to limit the current when the PIC IO goes high. As soon as this happens the PIC will power down but still....... I may have missed a huge problem.. the first two variants I came up with had major problems..... This one may have even bigger problems!!!! Comments?????
