On upc/ean, the workable distortion spec is pretty limited.
I've been able to recover some pretty badly distorted codes, up to but not
including 0.5 module, because once you hit half a module, you can't
determine wether it was made larger or smaller..

Other symbologies aren't nearly so robust.
