Agree, as you've made a distinction between "datasheet" and "technical datasheet". The best self-help for a beginner to do is to get as much information as possible, yet as the OP has found out, it took someone from here to turn the light on re transceivers. We've all been caught I'm sure. When you don't know what you don't know it's not always easy to pick what's a good source of info and what's not.
