Disagree. Even before I've bought anything I'm not familiar with, be
it a new micro, an IC or a VCR, I've got a copy of the manual or DS
so as to hit the ground running. However, you could say in that
regard I'm not a beginner

Many MC documents come with a Design Tips page and Related
Applications page. In the Mid-range Reference Manual for example,
those pages for the UART are almost empty. An ideal place to
mention serial protocols and hardware
