I've been using FreePDF (http://www.webxd.com/zipguy/freepdf.htm) for quite
some time.

The installation is awkward (you need to install & configure three separate
programs), and it does a somewhat poorer job than Acrobat Distiller.  But it
works, and costs nothing.
