Oh I'm not done yet... :-) ...this is my proof that a solution
exists.  I've downloaded Slack 9, and will be experimenting
w/Mandrake as well.  Although I know Slackware best, I'm leaning
towards one of the more self-installing distribs (getting to that
age 8-O ), and if I don't like Mandrake, then RH 9 it is.

Yes, I know there are tons of other distribs, but I have to
draw the line somewhere.
