I believe Microchip was going to release a public interface to MPLAB 6
but i haven't seen anything yet.

My programmer runs in the back ground and has a "program" button that
stays on top of MPLAB. All you have to do after assembling the code is
click on the program button. The programmer will 'see' the new hex file
and load it before programming takes place.
