Man, does that bring back memories...I had one of these things in junior high school (let's see, that was when I was 12, way too many years ago.) It fit well under my jacket and I'd listen to tunes in study hall. It didn't quite work as advertised--there was still some sonic energy travelling directly from the speakers to the ears--but it was surprisingly "hi-fi" even though much of the sound was indeed conducted through skin/bone.
