I've read opinion here that says you can get excellent results if you understand your materials. Elevated temperatures to allow very rapid drying was a major factor AFAIR. My experience, long ago, was that it is doable with great care, attention to detail and consistent technique obtained by experiment. ie can be done but needs dedication and discipline.
