Radio Shack's rare earth magnets are common, and very small to hide away.
I'd be more concerned with droping and losing it in a shag carpet than it
flying off. Throw the whole assembly off a four story building and the box
and circuit will explode into shreds but the magnet will still be stuck to
whatever you attached it to. Maybe a good idea to attach it to a little
tab of plastic for a handle, fits in a slot for storage.

I made a 'Beakman's Motor' with one, AWG 30 wire, armature about 1/4" in
diameter. Powerful powerful magnet.
