Philips TDA4140 family eg TDA5142 here http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/pip/TDA5142.html TDA5140A here http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/pip/TDA5140A_C1.html When I saw one of these on action almost 10 years ago it worked well BUT started rather poorly as it didn't "know" where the motor was until it had gained a little headway. As a consequence it oscillated around the start point alittle before starting up correctly. They may have sorted this out since then with some of the variants?
