The other trick to watch for is that many of the newer serial DACs designed
for audio/CD/DVD use seem to also have the ability to do decompression on
the bit stream. One of my colleagues has been going through this loop in
looking for 24 bit DACs to use with the big new accelerator ring being built
here "real soon now" (well at least they had the ceremony to turn the first
sod the other day).
