I'm assuming there was no ghosting with a regular monitor?  If certian
components fail on the video card you'll get severe ghosting.

Make sure the monitor is connected directly to the card (no monitor
switch box, extension cables, etc).

Set the resolution to 1280x1024

Set the refresh rate to 60Hz

Use the auto-setup button or setting on the LCD

Don't buy cheap LCD monitors.
