Sorry for the extreme Off Topic-ness of this, but I thought that I would put the word out to potential Bell Mobility cell phone subscribers in Canada. Bell has recently begun a direct marketing campaign where potential subscribers are contacted by telephone and offered a free cell phone. You are also told that you have two weeks to return the phone if you decide that you don't want to sign up for the 2 year contract required. What you are not told about is that you can return the phone ONLY if you have NOT used it prior to returning it. In other words: 2 weeks to opt out but only if you have ZERO minutes on the phone. This is a direct contrast to the policy of the Bell Mobility stores and kiosks: if you obtain the phone from one of those locations, you have all the features and promotions that are included with the direct marketing campaign BUT have 2 weeks or 100 minutes of cell phone use. The reason this comes up is that I received one of the phones offered by the direct marketing group but found gaping omissions in the contract that I was asked to sign and return. Two hours worth of phone calls later, I found out about the zero minutes policy on the cell phone - only because I asked. I'm about to make a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau but wanted to pass the word out other potential subscribers. dwayne PS - the other thing that raises my ire is that the offer made by phone is stated to be Can $25.00 per month plus tax. You have to specifically ask before finding out that the taxes include a $6.95 monthly access fee as well as a $0.25 monthly 911 fee. The reason this bothers me is those charges are NOT taxes - they are charges. The only tax I am aware of the GST - I suspect that many others assume the same thing. Yet those charges are lumped in under the guise of taxes. This raises the monthly cost of the phone to Can $34.45 which is about 30% higher than initially expected. dwayne -- Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax Celebrating 19 years of Engineering Innovation (1984 - 2003) .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .-. .- `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' `-' Do NOT send unsolicited commercial email to this email address.
