Thanks every who replied. I should have mentioned that the connector comes through the case. >> What about the power connector on a Floppy drive? 4-pins, This is something I had not thought of. If I could make it work through a case well, I would consider it. This is basically a 0.1 in header. >> I have an RC airplane gyro, with a little, female header plug, that looks like it slides over a pin header, 4 pins, This sounds like a Futaba RC connector. An interesting idea, but maybe the leads will be too small a guage. >> ... standard-ish micro-USB connector ... ...small size IEEE1394 firewire ... I like the idea of the small USB and firewire connectors but would not use them for something other than USB or firwire since it is not intuitive for the consumer (and probably discouraged by those organizations somehow). >> there is mini-DIN, but not much smaller than RJ45. Yeah, I seem to remember see DIN-type connectors that were smaller than mini-din (mini-dins are used for PS2 keyboards), but could not find any in Digikey's catalog. Thanks for the input every, I will probably just use the 4 conductor 3.5mm jack (headphone type plug) and hope that I can find a lower cost source for plugs when the time comes --BobG -----Original Message----- From: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]On Behalf Of Jai Dhar Sent: Monday, February 24, 2003 11:23 AM To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Subject: Re: [EE]: Compact connector for serail port What about the power connector on a Floppy drive? 4-pins, cheap, and small...
