I'd like to read an online tutorial or get a book regarding very simple
things, such as defining variable locations (using MPASM) and other basic,
introductory PIC related things. I can learn by example of other people's
code, but I'd much rather understand why I'm doing what I'm doing rather
than just cut & pasting others' work. Even an online or book reference
that explains how basic things are done in the PIC as compared to another
CPU (like the 8051 or ARM for example).

Any specific advice would be appreciated.
