Sourced from a USA based rocketry list. OK - I know I'm near the acceptable edge on this one. (Which side of the edge remains to be seen.) I suggest that you probably don't want to comment on list about this. TELLING you about it as an information source is arguably marginal. DISCUSSING it is liable to rapidly drop into political discussion and we all die. By all means flame me offlist (or send virtual roses) or comment as you see fit. What I'm seeking to do is point those interested to proposed new US legislation that they may quite likely not know about. I strongly recommend that anyone in the US who loves their country (regardless of their political affiliations) makes themselves aware of this material. Your congress-person may be interested in what you think, whatever it happens to be. (But maybe not). Two sources. I have no idea of the political standing of these sites (notwithstanding their claims): NOW with Bill Moyers. Public Affairs television. http://www.pbs.org/now/politics/lewis.html The centre for Public Integrity. (CLAIMS to be non-partisan) http://www.publicintegrity.org/dtaweb/report.asp?ReportID=502&L1=10&L2=10&L3 =0&L4=0&L5=0 more frightening, perhaps eg from this page Dr. David Cole, Georgetown University Law professor and author of Terrorism and the Constitution, ....... This proposed law, ..... "would radically expand law enforcement and intelligence gathering authorities, reduce or eliminate judicial oversight over surveillance, authorize secret arrests, create a DNA database based on unchecked executive 'suspicion,' create new death penalties, and even seek to take American citizenship away from persons who belong to or support disfavored political groups." This is within the US btw regards Russell McMahon. -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
