Now the bit and registers names There are 2 different "program memory" windows in all the recent versions of MPLAB which I have used. One is what Alan has just described, one is what Lawrence has described. ISTR that Alan's one (the useful one!) appears when you have set up a project including your hex file, Lawrence's (not-very-useful-at-all-one!) appears if you import a hex file from the File menu. Unfortunately, I don't have MPLAB in front of me at the moment to check, and it's a few weeks since I last had the same problem.
