Nice Seneca! Fly safe, Russell! Our recent midair here between a Cheyenne and a Skyhawk in Denver has everyone's heads on swivels watching for traffic (as we always should be). So far all the indications are simply that the pilots failed to "see and avoid". Both were in visual flight rules but in radar contact, and the controller called traffic to the Cheyenne -- he didn't have time to call the traffic to the Cessna. It was dusk and lighting conditions are always a challenge in those transition times. We hadn't had a mid-air in Colorado in 29 years. It's somewhat sad. The Cessna pilot was a survivor of the Columbine High School shootings, a few years ago, and was a young pilot working on his Instrument-rating. Of course, the local politicians (the Mayor) said he'd start an "immediate" investigation of the "crowded skies" over Denver. 29 years. As one on-line news columnist put it, "How many pedestrians were run down in Denver's streets in the last 29 years, Mr. Mayor?". Perhaps the Mayor can go investigate why his head is "up and locked" in a general area of his body his head shouldn't normally be. That Seneca looks like fun. Hope you're having a great time!
