Hi, thanks for writing. I sincerely wish I were in your shoes, its been 3 days and still not working. I cannot get the thing to ever set the DATA_REQ line. I've followed 3 different initialization sequences (minor variations of hardware reset, load the ST-supplied firmware, set the DSP settings for my clock frequency (10mhz), enable DATA_REQ, set dac settings, then run, then play). What I'm getting is that it looks like the pin is never driven, i.e. the DATA_REQ setting is ignored. I get i2c acknowledgements, I can read back the value I set into it (4), just no go. The pin looks "noisy" on a scope, and if I touch the scope probe, I get lots of noise, i.e. the pin isn't driven to ground, it is always floating. Its been an incredibly frustrating time. Apparently this problem is the main one that people have with this chip. But there are successful designs, so there must be some way to get it to go. I'm using a 10mhz clock - TTL input, not a crystal, the designs I've seen use a 14.7456 crystal, maybe that has something to do with it. I'm grasping at straws here. Any ideas you could give would be most appreciated. Thanks. Jesse Robert E. Griffith wrote: > I have the chip working and have not found it buggy.
