Radioshack are (or were) selling ISD1000As for $10. I know because I bought two of them when I was on holiday in New York. For anyone on Long Island, the Radioshack in the Smith Haven Mall had them on sale for $4.99 when I was down there in September 2001. So, yes, the ISD1000 and ISD1020 do exist. In fact, the ISD1000 is a rebadged ISD1020, sold by R-S. Long since superceded, but a nice device to play with. I think there's a copy of the datasheet on www.freetradezone.com.
