Samo, I do not know about Alpine but mine was sony and remote Operation was resistor based like 1,2k is volume up 2,2k was down and so on and they ware using (shielded) 3 wires cable because of analog signal noise. Use 1meg pot with 1k series resistor slowly turn it if it didn't do any thing then it is code base control system if it did some thing then you can figure it out by turning the pod back and forward. Andre Abelian -----Original Message----- Hi! I recently bought a car that has originaly installed Philips car radio . This radio has a remote control on a steering wheell. I didn't open it yet, but I believe that it isn't IR type and that it only has a few switches and that it is connected by wires to a radio. I already own an Alpine CDM-7873R CD reciever. Now I'd like to change radios, but I like the remote from Philips. My question is: Alpine has a headphone jack style female connector on the backside for remote control of the unit. Does anybody know the protocoll used by Alpine to control this kind of car radio so that I could use the existing remote with Alpine?
