The problem with a single chip solution is that if you are not satisfied with both RF and uC you have to change both...

I have also been looking for RF IC:s for a future project.

I have read about Chipcon somewhere else and got the impression they are high quality.

Another high Q brand is NordIC http://www.nvlsi.no/ i met at a seminar. They can help with layout etc, that is a big issue at RF.
