Hmmm? Does one not need knowledge on how to swim in order to swim? You missed my point entirely, Jonathon. I am not saying whether I agree or disagree with Ed's suggestion about having a [NEWBIE]: tag. In fact, I do not have an opinion either way. However comparing Ed to Hitler for such a suggestion is what is pathetic. The idea *does* have some merit. I consider myself (not-quite-so) Newbie as I was a year or so ago. I would often like to contribute to a Newbie's questions - only to see that he has been responded to 5 or 6 times with all the same answers - and some replies are not as tolerant as others. Perhaps those who really do not have the time to answer Newbies questions should not monitor those threads and therefore they would not be so inpatient when it comes to answering them. Leave it to the not-so-newbies to answer these same "stupid" questions that we ourselves probably only asked ourselves - only earlier. Like I said, I do not know if Ed's suggestion is a good or bad one. I have opinions either way. But I maintain my position that to respond to his suggestion with "In 1938 a man named Adolph Hittler attempted to do something similar" and further clarifying Ed's comments as discriminatory is simply pathetic. My analogy to swimming still stands. Should I consider the creator of my childrens "beginner's" swimming classes as Hitler? - I think not! Another point. If we were to adopt Ed's suggestion tomorrow. Wouldn't the so called "discrimination" be voluntary? I mean, a Newbie would have to actually type the tag [NEWBIE]: - a kind of self discrimination then, isn't it? We all choose the tag we apply to our posts now. I don't think that under Ed's suggestion anything would be different. Once that Newbie considered themselves "ready" for the help of the big bad list, they could simply change the [TAG]: - not quite the Nazi PIC list that Wagner is suggesting would occur. > Pathetic, is not being willing to learn from someone that you may > consider inferior in they're knowledge compared to oneself. nobody > here is aware of all the experience and knowledge that each of the > other participants has and as such cannot classify anyone on this list > a 'lesser mortal' :-) than themselves.
