Don't even need a custom format in Excel 97

        Format
        Cells
        Number
        Time
            Type box has a list
                One is eg 30:55.7  (5th one down in my case)
                    This gives minutes and fractional seconds
                Next is 37:30:55 (6th down)
                    This gives non modulo hh:mm:ss
