At work I've been using the TDS2024 for about 6 months now and love it. it's great, portable and easy to use. The window zoom triggering is just great. I think you would be happy with the lower model; It's way better than the analog scopes for most (but not all) measurements I do in our lab. The fact it is so light makes it easy to carry to a measurement. The down side is that the LCD can be a bit of a problem if you have to look at it from a very wide viewing angle. It is the only thing I have noticed which to be a problem. This is just the trade off for using the LCD that doesn't have a very wide viewing angle compensation; It's not a bad looking LCD at all, and does have a decent viewing angle, but still an LCD. One other small complaint is that the boot up time is long. The first time I took it out of the box; I thought it was broken because It didn't jump to very life fast. (The box had been smashed in shipping - just missing the LCD). All around it's been a excellent choice. It is a wonderful scope, I have a friend who recently got one, and it is a sweet scope. Although tek scopes are expensive, they are more in the lincoln/cadillac price range, unlike Agilent scopes (infiniium models) that are more in the mercedes / bmw 7 series price range ;) Personally, I have a TDS710 (60Mhz version of the 720A 100Mhz scope that replaced it), and I love it. Tek scopes last forever if you take care of them. -Tony ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Dribin" To: Sent: Friday, January 24, 2003 10:25 AM Subject: [EE]: Tek TDS1002 opinions? > I'm finally gonna by my own scope after about 1.5 years of looking. > I've been borrowing a friends portable Fluke for a while, and he wants > it back. :) > > I've all but decided on the Tek TDS1002 ($1,000): > > http://www.tek.com/site/ps/0,,40-15314-SPECS_EN,00.html > -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
