You can get "parallel cut crystals" which work with the PIC's oscillator, or you can get a "crystal oscillator" which contains a crystal **AND** an oscillator circuit. These are two different things, and I assume you want the former. AFAIK, all PICs are the same or very similar with regard to their crystal oscillator circuits; they all work with parallel-cut crystals (in contrast to series-cut crystals, with which they are not intended to be used). A crystal which works for one, should work for nearly all of them. >I want to use the HS+PLL option >and what I have doesn't seem to be working. It gives you speed. BLAZING speed. A PIC at 40MHz runs like a striped-ass ape, believe me. >So I need a 10Mhz ceramic resonator from >a parallel cut crystal -- I guess. Crystals give very high frequency accuracy, in the range of +/- 0.01% or so. If you don't need quite that, a ceramic resonator will do. Several companies make ceramic resonators with the appropriate load capacitors already built in; they're very handy. DigiKey sells them, other distributors do too. >Where can you get these? I've been using these resonators from ECS, Inc.: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/us/dksus.dll?Detail?Ref=84938&Row=314016 Hope this helps...
