The passive cooler is enough if there's adequate case airflow. Typically the processer is situated right below the powersupply, where airflow is greatest. You can buy shrouds that go around the processor heatsink and attach to the power supply if you really want to make sure it's adequate cooling, or simply replace it with a fan heatsink. In short, it'll be ok. If it overheats it may stop working, but it shouldn't destroy itself, so it's safe to try it out for awhile and decide if there are problems before going with a real fan based heatsink. -Adam Martin.Buehler@KEYMILE.COM wrote: >I bought a celeron 333 processor from a shop closing sale. >This slot 1 processor board has only a passive aluminium cooler, but no >fan on it. >Does the celeron 333 processor need no fan to be cooled, is the passive >cooler enough? >thanks! >tino > >-- >http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics >(like ads or off topics) for you.
