> Anyone know of a programmer for 27xx EPROMS? I would like ont that > works off a serial port. Serial port is too slow for eprom programmers, a simple 27C801 (1MegaByte) eprom can take up to 30 minutes via serial port, even at high speed. Nonsense. He only had two x's (27xx), so serial should be plenty fast, if not impressively speedy. Besides, a 27c801 is VERY big for an eprom. Most usage is in much smaller parts... I've spent lots of time programming 27C512 - 27C1024 eproms on a serial programmer connected at 38400bps or slower. It's not THAT unpleasant... (EPROMS aren't all that fast to program even after the contents have been downloaded. I don't see how any serial programmer worth its name can take 30 minutes just to download a megabyte... Rough calculations say that's only 9600bps, and intel hex format...) BillW -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
