Unfortunately my power-supply design skills, to put it bluntly, sucked. I used the largest cap I could get: a *large* electrolytic (about twice the dimensions of a 12oz soda can). One evening the sucker exploded. The *entire* house heard it, and my roommate was afraid to come anywhere near my computer ever again. I couldn't hear right for a week. On the positive side, the wooden case I built for it contained the damage, and with the help of a friend who was good at power supplies, the computer was running again in a few days! -- D.
