I'm looking for a language that'll handle the whole range of PIC16F
chips. I'd like to hear peoples opinion on why they like the various
languages as I've been unable to find a comparison of the different
languages and their pros/cons online...

Like I said I'm currently looking at HI-TECH's PICC Lite because its
free... any pros and cons on that one?

What are the various version of PICBasic and how would that compare to
say the free and full version of PICC?

What is the difference between CCS and PICC

Where does JAL fit into this and would I find it useful for what I'm
looking for?

Sorry about the list of questions, though that it would be more direct
just to spell out each question
