Based entirely on armchair observations:    I think you'd want to test it
rather more rapidly than that in solar or wind systems if you were really
aiming for every last skerrick of energy. Wind systems have significant
inertia but wind gusts can also alter quite rapidly. Easy enough to do of
course. Having a separate insolation measuring sensor as I mentioned before
has the advantage that you don't need to wander to & fro across the optimum
load point as the sensor tells you the true insolation and you can set the
inverter parameters directly from that.
