Isn't this just a re-visitation of the ancient proven methods of sorting
and tabling information in general?

In a previous (military) life we drew our kit,,,
"Boots,    Black,    Feet,     Men's "
"Ammunition,    Rifle,    7.62mm ball"

The stores clerk read the triplicated request in a top-down fashion.
Most...to...least, significant order, even if it made for absurd English.
