Colin,

There was a thread that appeared about 6 months ago about
the (Texas Instruments) TPIC6A595 Shift register, so I know
that people are using them.  It is cascadable and can also drive
LEDs and Relays, etc... I've cascaded 18 simultaneously to
control 144 LEDs (on Guitar Fretboard as a teaching tool) and
had great luck with them!

I'm guessing that lots of folks use 8 bit shift registers to get data into
and out of PICs.  So I was just wondering what are the most popular para
in/ser out and ser in/para out devices.

Do you use any that are daisy chainable?
