Rude answer: Look through the archives, it's already been asked quite some times now. Last time was about two months ago. Nice answer: I'm using CCS with good results, on the same two PICs. Crosscompile is easy, just change the header and you're off to go. Also, excellent support for peripherals and especially the built in serial bitbanging is delicious. You can always squeeze in a debug output stream on some pin so you can see debug output, even if you're already using the hardware serial port. Downside: weird update pricing scheme, irregular support (in some cases very good, in other non-existant). No built in MPLAB 6 support yet (should be in 6.20), but can be worked around with some crude batchfiles. www.ccsinfo.com, from the commercial compiler factories, it's in the lower price range. Around $99 for each PIC family. Updates are very regular. I think it's time for me to move to high level language, C. There are many C compilers for C out there and I just don't know which one is the "best" to buy. I am thinking of using either the PIC16F877 or the PIC18F452. Do you have any recommendation? Thank you in advance!
