And don't forget, cable ratings (particularly for fixed cables) are usually
based on a 10year plus life also. Overrunning a cable slightly for short
periods may only reduce the lifetime - not actually result in an immediate
hazard.
But this would need to be looked at on a case by case basis, with full
information.
