I can't help you with the details of the '877 A/D, but I wanted to let you know that there's an article coming in the February 2003 Circuit Cellar (#151, out in mid-January) using this camera for robot vision. The author uses an external Analog Devices AD7822 A/D converter (and an Atmel AT90S8515 microcontroller) in order to get a sample rate of just under 500 kHz to support a frame rate of 30 fps for real-time navigation of the robot. He also shows how to use the edge-detecting mode of the camera chip in conjunction with the -8515's analog comparator to produce a binary image, and there's C code for a host PC that helps with debugging and developing vision algorithms. -- Dave Tweed -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
