I think like most things, there is a broad spread of attention to detail and workmanship. This is not the first time I've seen this sort of work - though I have also seen work that in my opinion was up to the mark. I suppose really I object to the licensing requirements which to me as an outsider in all senses of the word, smack more of a form of protectionism than as a pointer to a minimum quality of work. I actually attempted to get a restricted licence, apart from the fact it doesn't cover much more than my electronics qualifications (NSW syllabus) or from the UK it is difficult to actually get on the course unless one is an apprentice electrician. South Bank TAFE seem to be the only people in SE Qld who offer the course and it requires applying, paying the tuition fees and then waiting for the electrical union to approve your application. Still I was talking to a an electrician from Kiwiland and he expressed surprise that in Qld if he wanted to open a electrical repair business he actually has to do a small business course before he can get the proper certification. Though it's one way to help fill various coffers I suppose. Colin -- cdb, bodgy1@optusnet.com.au on 02/12/2002 Light travels faster than sound.
