Same as for a speedometer. Sorry, I meant to say speedometer. I forget the exact model of car, but it surprised me to see that the cruise control seemed to have its own car speed pickup independent of the speedometer, even though the cruise control was factory installed. This was around 1996, and probably the factory installed cruise control was really and add on unit slapped on at the factory.
