Thanks for the input. So this is an actual requirement then? The design also uses a ltv814 optocoupler, which has TUV, VDE, UL & CSA approvals. But the distance between the optically isolated pins is slightly less than 8mm. Closer to 7mm if one were to use a standard land-pattern.
