Becaus I have an old (300Mhz ?) PC with Win98 (not SE or ME), and I don't
want to "disturb" the environment to much. Note that I just wanted to get
the MPLAB install script running...

And the V6 distro was bigger, if I'm not wrong, and, using a modem, this
was also significant.

I think that having a slightly older Windows version gives you less
trouble with most software, as, as an example, the serial routines
in Wouters WISP programmers.

I like it when I can understand what's going on, the same reason
I prefer my Creedence Clearwater Revival LP's  (got all 7 in orginial).
