The stack could be implemented on a PIC, albeit with some work. Really it depends on what you are trying to do. There are some resources on http://www.piclist.com and plenty on the net if you google for them. Just for your information, Zilog is apparently coming out with a z80 based chip with the Ethernet MAC right on the chip. Just add a transformer, a jack, and you're good to go. A PIC like that would be killer.
